One big “happy” family again, and I kind of missed Gay’s usual look :)  I picture Death and Prozac taking that bat to the cloning machine so hopefully no more adventures in spectacularly irresponsible science for the foreseeable future…  I’ve seen too much sci-fi where the robots take over.

I was going to say the others had put Evil in time out, but “Corner of Shame” has a nice ring to it guys :)

So Sam got a silly little stamp thing inside a Kinder egg and left it in reach of the twins (of course) who are slowly getting better at sharing, so much so to the point that they managed to open the stupid thing.  I found Evan with the top bit in his mouth, the sticker on top long since dissolved and likely swallowed, and Owen behind my WHITE couch (I know, what was I thinking??) with the ink well part- literally caught RED handed.  Still doesn’t top the mutually decided upon naked time in their room one morning that resulted in poop on the bed…#%@.  Good morning Momma indeed.

Inevitable fallout starring Crack who did pretty much nothing that whole last arc cause he’s a big wuss, or as he would prefer, a strategic planner who bides his time and strikes at just the right moment, in secret. Preferably without getting internal damage.

Sam brought  home the latest plague making it’s way through kindergarten and this time we all got it. Snotty feverish two year olds alternating waking up and crying all night for 4 days straight plus my own pounding headache and sore throat :(  And that weird fever thing where you’re shivering and tensing your muscles and layering 3 sweaters and turning the heat up and taking a scalding shower… then 5 minutes later you realize you’re dripping with sweat and that innermost tee shirt layer is soaked and you have to have another shower to get clean… cold again 1/2 hour later.  That was my weekend!!

If you ever don’t wait the whole 48 symptom free hours before sending your kid back to school then I hate you with a burning/freezing/burning passion.

So the comments and emails I got about shipping Nerd/Evil made me laugh, and then made me sketch… lots of laughs were had, none inappropriate though (sorry xxx furry folk) but random bear coupling sketches may pop up as vote incentives from now on… starting with this one.

Crack decides to push back for once, even though it’s not really necessary in this case.  Oh well, progress?

Still a little sick around here, half of us are on anti-biotics.  Spring just can’t come fast enough :(

I also keep refreshing websites looking for snow suits on sale.  The twins both need one for next year so I figure I should be able to get a deal on end of the year clearance but $100 for just a kid-sized jacket is still not a deal.  With how fast Sam alone is going through snow pants this is going to get pricey.  Anybody know any secret deals for kid’s winter wear?

And we’re back in Crack’s “secret” inner sanctum for interrogation round 2.  I should have totally covered the walls and floor in plastic for added… homeyness.  This is a bit of a growth arc for Crack plus the first comic of what will eventually be book 5 material (ha! some day! yay for eventual all day kindergarten!) so in all likelihood, 5 will be the Book of Crack.

We took the boys to see the Lego movie today (kids under 3 free!  Milk it!) and I was really looking forward to it from the trailers but I don’t know… I’m kind of meh now.  Except for Batman, Lego Batman was awesome.

I think “douche canoe” was a Deanism if I remember correctly… props to those writers.  I always have trouble coming up with fun new insults.  Well here’s to spending tonight adding up receipts and trying to find my final 2013 property tax bill.  It seems no matter how organized I think I am, I’m always missing something. Yay tax time for self-employed free lancers!  Let’s see if I can accurately wield a calculator while drinking :)

For the small amount of you that Facebook actually lets see my posts (boo!) this isn’t new, but for everyone else St. Patrick’s Day comes early!   Since ShirtWoot won’t be printing this one I thought I’d throw it up on my Teepublic site because ninjas totally go with green, or beer, or even green beer.  It’s another appearance of Unstealthiest Ninja’s cousin, Oblivious Ninja: (they have an interesting family tree just full of dishonour.)

I finally worked up the nerve and got my eyes lasered.  They’re still pretty sensitive and I’m trying not to stare at the computer too long so this weekend has been mostly shot in terms of getting work done, but I’m enjoying not worrying about contacts and glasses anymore.  It’s a strange sensation waking up and being able to see right away.  No more coming in from the cold and having your glasses fog up :)  I’m throughly sick of the drops though, especially the anti-biotic one that gives you a bad after taste about 10 minutes after taking it… gross.  I’ve been trying to explain to the twins that they have to be extra careful around my eyes and no they can’t help me put the drops in.  Evan really wanted to help so Jim gave him a kleenex to bring to me.  He literally smacked me in the eye with it… we’re still working on “gentle”.  My right eye is totally bruised and red, it looks awesome.

Spring has arrived!  And it brought 10 more cm of snow!  Hopefully THIS time is the last time I have to shovel for the year, except there’s still flurries in the forecast for this week.  I am sick to death of snow pants and wet mitts.  And dry winter skin, ugh.

Argh!  It snowed again on Saturday!  It’s April already and all the snow pants have holes in the knees :P  Time for spring!!

So… ladies.  As much as I creative failed with the kind of cliche title, it is somewhat relevant.  I know some of you are familiar with older sketches of the girl bears already so I ask that you please don’t spoil it in the comments for anyone who’s not.  It’s been fun shaking up the status quo in the bear exhibit; I think the males have gotten a little complacent in their ways :)  I’ll probably post some wip and concept sketches for the girls on the FaceBook page in the next little while so feel free to go like BN on FB so you don’t miss them… or you likely still will since FB throttles posts so much… gripe.  I will post them on here eventually once the girls debut, but first things first: birthday tea party for an elephant!

Like Nerd even knows what the girl parts are…  I went to kickboxing on Thursday night and left Jim to deal with the boy’s bed time routine all by himself… I came home to my husband huddled in front of his computer with a bottle of wine and a bag of chocolate chips.  He wants me to emphasize that it was a mostly empty bottle and he was being efficient by not bothering with a glass, which is just fine since he most likely would have left that for me to clean anyway.

Dooomcat has a Tumblr now!  I’ve realized that my laziness/fear of social media isn’t helping me get my work out there so having finally gotten comfortableish with Facebook (the BN page is here by the way) I’ll start trying some other avenues and see what happens… so Tumblr!  I’m planning on posting lots of wip tee designs and other stuff, BN/etc. so follow me there too if you’re interested, plus I’m curious to hear other people’s suggestions for great artists to follow :)

Happy belated Easter weekend to those who celebrate, and those who just eat way more chocolate than usual :)  My brother’s girlfriend won a giant white chocolate bunny from a draw at a grocery store.  This thing is a monster that stood almost as tall as the twins.  It’s hollow but it’s thick and I can’t imagine how long it will take to eat it all, kind of getting queazy just thinking about it.  I like white chocolate, but it gets a little too sweet really fast.  We broke off the head and brought it home in a bag; from the tips of the ears to the bottom of it’s jagged neck wound it’s as long as my forearm.  Maybe I’ll just throw it on the floor and let my wild pack of animals devour the carcass…

I totally meant to respond to some of the comments last week and then I… forgot.  Lame excuse, sorry.  But the wishful thinking for a strapping, manly love interest for Gay did stick out as he’s already got one, or four actually :)  Lech, and three hulking male polar bears who are confined to a small exhibit and do nothing but workout all day.  I imagine there’s a lot of pent up urges in a zoo…

Apparently Evil’s been mending some fences… So the weather is still kind of cold for this time of year.  It’s like it’s perpetually windy out so the temperature never really gets comfortable.  Plus we’re still dealing with cold/flu/VOMITING/headaches that it still feels like winter.  Are we suddenly going to turn a corner with this, or just have an abnormally short/cold summer?  Are there any predictions about this?  Can we predict trends a couple of months out?  Maybe I won’t have to buy all the boys new sandals after all :P

I feel like Prozac every day; with three small kids I’m ALWAYS cleaning (mostly just ME because Jim is often too ‘busy’ to help).  And this is before I start to tackle the potty training x2 thing which is sure to be an ongoing debacle considering how long it took Sam to really get it.  And he still sometimes forgets when he’s ‘busy’ doing stuff, like watching a movie.  He’s totally his father’s son :P

I’m not at the point where I’m self-medicating like Pro, I just eat too much junk food instead.  I read a daddy blog where he mentions hiding from the kids in the pantry, stuffing his face with chips and trying to ignore the ever more shrill and demanding yelling.  I cried mirthful/depressed tears in sympathy.  Kids are bad for your waist line in every way.  I wish I could remember where I saw that so I could link it for you guys!

Oh good, Nerd caught on :)  I love sequences in comics that can tell a whole story or convey a conversation without any words.  They can be challenging to draw but I love pushing expressions (see nearly every face Crack makes) so it’s fun when I get the opportunity :)  And notice how those 4 jerks at the bottom managed to get out of cleaning…

The evolution of design: this was the original version of the ‘Dragon Rider’ tee that I subbed to Teefury (here’s the final version to compare).  They thought it looked a little crowded with both characters on there so they asked if I could just put Dany.  I always like seeing how things change and progress with input, though having to make zero revisions is also fun :)

Ladies!  I know some of you found all my old deviant art sketches so the girls aren’t much of a surprise… but then you haven’t really met them yet :)  I’ll admit I was surprised at some of the comments lamenting the fact that there would be female bears added to the cast because really??  You think this thing should stay so overwhelmingly one gendered?  I don’t really prefer that, I just had too many characters to play with… and it’s still way too lopsided.  I have been watching lots of GOT lately and we all know how that series deals with too many characters… (cue ominous cackling).  Anyway, give them a chance.  It’s not like they’re going to come in and completely redecorate or something.  Change is good!  And I have a new colour palette :)

These go live tomorrow on Ript Apparel! (Tuesday the 3rd).  And surprisingly the Powerpuff style was kind of a stretch for me.  It’s actually a bit outside my comfort zone in how limited it is, and despite my affinity for big eyes, these are goggly and creepy looking and I kept changing them.  It was a fun exercise though, I should find the time to try different styles more often… ha!  Like I have all the extra time in the world.
