I was just thinking the other day that in the wake of all this Ebola awareness… the preponderance of bodily fluids in BN may be a bit over the top… and I should probably donate to Doctors Without Borders again.

And before anyone gets mad: yes this isn’t over, no Sara doesn’t get off this easily (though I wouldn’t imagine cleaning vomit chunks out of fur is all that easy), and even if Gay isn’t particularly motivated to seek vengeance, I imagine others will be more than happy to get some for him.  Just give karma some time :)  And I know not everyone bothers to read the blog post so I’m sure I will still get the occasional message of mild to extreme dissatisfaction.  Dissatisfy away :)

ShirtWoot’s video game derby honourable mention side sale is up!  That’s a mouthful, and it’s only on for one week: get ‘Retro’ and ‘Angry Tetris God’ now!

And in honour of Halloween, here’s some slightly more recognizable bears engaging in some slightly more horrific behaviour… or not, depends on your vomit between your toes threshold…

Happy late Halloween everyone!  Every year I think it would be great to get an actual Halloween themed arc done and up at the right time, but I never get organized well enough :(  Here’s a Halloweenish vote incentive instead.

Also on my to-do list: girl bear bios!  When I get a chance, I promise!

ShirtWoot’s latest side sale has ‘Killer Tea Time’ up this week!

Possible other things Nerd spends all his online time doing: binge watching obscure sci-fi shows, facilitating credit card fraud, indulging his secret Kirk/Spock slash fic habits.  He may also need to expand his current knowledge base… and with three boys, I’m happy to leave all “The Talks” to Jim :)  As long as he gets in there before my brothers.  I’m not sure there’s any coming back from the malicious misinformation of a sex talk with your uncles… OMG I am not looking forward to the teenage years.

Vote incentive: Dark Side Disco Dancing! Also available in my Neatorama store.

Tomorrow (Tuesday Nov 11) only on RIPT:  Astrid shirt!  She’s seriously under appreciated in my opinion :)

So innocent!

And thanks to the “kids” at BUPL for having me out!  I had fun and I hope I was informative (I also can’t believe I talked for 2 ish hours).  It also snowed here most of the day Sunday; I may have to give up my stubborn yearly habit of wearing sandals as long as possible :(

Vote Incentive: Silly food tee (because broccoli is a jerk.)

Requisite silly Doctor Who shirt now available on Woot! Because pretty much all my designs are silly… ‘Busy Little Dalek’ is keeping busy… and I sort of want to do some kind of ‘Happy Little Borg’ shirt, but I’m not sure what that would look like…

Gay enjoys offering the rare olive branch, or perhaps he’s just playing the long game… Sara is a study of how many ways can I draw “incredulous”.  Which reminds me of a comic gig I had a long time ago where some of the editor’s revisions included phrases like “Can you make her look more confident/terrified?”  I like to think I’m pretty handy with expressions and emoting… but I just didn’t know what to do with that.

Fun Xmas ideas:  We recently repainted the kid’s playroom and I got my free sample wall decal from Neatorama (because they’re really cool and they love to give their artists free samples so we like them more… bribes!  Bribes!)  and it looks awesome!  It’s also way bigger than I expected; it’s about 24 inches across and it took us awhile to put up because we suck and kept getting bubbles (it peels off and resticks easily though).  The thing is huge, and laser cut, and in three pieces (I’m lucky the guy at the store put the screen protector on my phone for me :)

Anyway, if you’re looking for fun decor ideas for kid’s rooms (or any room), pretty much the whole Neato catalogue can be printed on these (or stickers if you want something smaller).  I’m also available for commissions if you want something custom/unique for your kid’s/etc room.

Black Friday is upon us again soon so I’ve got lots of sales to tell you guys about: starting with Teepublic as they’re doing a FREE T-SHIRT giveaway to celebrate.  Hit up the relevant Bear Nuts FB post here for the details (like/share/comment to enter).  The contest will run for the week and then we’ll announce TWO winners on Friday!

Also!  Screen printed version of ‘BEST FRIENDS FOREVER’ is up today only at Qwertee, which is a great UK based site so good shipping rates for that half of the globe :)

And finally, vote incentive: the sugary clique and the lonely lettuce (sounds like a really weird children’s book.

Apple cinnamon muffins (tops coated in sugar of course) are my favourite!  Now I want to go do some baking… Is Gay being the better “person” and letting it go?  Is he playing the long game with some nefarious and convoluted revenge plot?  He has been living with Evil for awhile…

What I assume is the last of the pre Christmas sales is on now at Design By Humans: 15% off all apparel AND free shipping until Dec 3rd I believe.  I don’t know what the order date deadline for pre Xmas delivery is but there should be more info on the site.  There’s a couple of NEW designs up as well (a pocket sized Pikachu and a darkly humorous sushi “chef” who is justifiably proud of his proprietary menu… I’m weird.)

Plus the annual Christmas vomits all over Shirt.Woot!  I have four shirts available now (nothing Xmasy about the broccoli shirt other than the colour scheme; I hate bacon and bacon hates me) and they’re almost all on green.  I still have to decorate my own tree, but I’ve drawn a lot of tree decorating lately.  There’s even mini Unstealthiest Ninja plushes available but it’s a blind box random sale (the other ones are cute too though, I may just have to order a few for the boys, if they let me…they don’t always ship everything non apparel to the desolate frozen land across the sea, Ontario.)

May your own tree decorating be casualty free.

And lastly, vote incentive: continuing my ‘green’ theme… more Arrow fan art!  Which you can also get as a tee on Neatorama.

Lech is: A jealous, B protective, C hungry, D brain damaged…

Teefury’s new Harry Potter themed collection (guest curated by Mugglenet) debuts today and runs for one week.  Some awesome stuff in there, including my ‘Owl and Weasel’ design.  I’m kind of excited about the new short stories coming out from JK Rowling (a 12 days of Christmas thing on her site) and I’m surprised all over again at how long it’s been since the last book was published.  Yet another thing to make me feel old :P

Final shipping deadlines for Christmas delivery are upon us (I don’t actually know what they are for the US, just that international is probably done).  DBH is still offering FREE shipping on all apparel orders.  Someone mentioned last week about having to sign up on their site before you can even see the galleries, which I didn’t know about.  If that’s an issue you can check out NEATORAMA instead; most of the same designs and I think they offer the greatest selection of oversized tees as well.  Both sites offer superior in house print quality (over say RedBubble that do it off site) and I love the quality of all the stuff I’ve gotten from them :)

Vote incentive: fun commission sketches for a Christmas gift (love the personal and unique gift ideas!  Jim puts no effort in any more…)

My kids have the same manners as Lech.  10 days till Christmas and I keep using the “I’ll take your presents back to the store!!” threat to keep them in line… it doesn’t appear to be working.

3 designs up right now on Shirt Woot!  They had an alphabet themed derby and I drew a lot of ninjas and a lot of cats (which will likely lead to the inevitable ninja-cat shirt, but anyway…).

On sale today only on Ript: Nostalgia!

Happy early holidays to everyone!  I of course have plans for a more appropriately timed and festive Face Book post, but I make a lot of plans that get upended these days… I’m freaking busy lately which is good/bad.  I’ll probably take Christmas off though… probably.

‘How Rainbows are Made’ is available now in Teefury’s Odditees 2 collection (something I made determined to be ‘odd’, there’s a surprise) but it’s only available until the 24th.  Great kid’s tee?  Or greatest? Or adult of course (people look at me funny when I wear this one…)

Plus a silly Mario themed tee up on Woot.  I always found those underground levels extra sinister: who hollowed out all these caverns?  Why do all these tunnels exist?  Why are there so many pipes that all go to the same place??  It doesn’t make sense!

A winter animal themed vote incentive while I glare jealously at my Uncle in Florida’s FB pics of his cycling trip :(

Update:  MORE shirt stuff (I said I’ve been busy…)  ‘Aerial’ is also on Woot today and it’s the last chance to get the Alpha Cats and Ninjas before they get “reckoned”, which is an ominous way of saying put in the back catalogue where the price increases :)

So that was my Friday night here (or rather REALLY early Sat morning since it was around 2 am).  I’m assuming it was too much Christmas and not enough sleep that finally did Sam in.  No better way to get woken up in the middle of the night than by a weepy child covered in vomit.  ANYWAY, doesn’t seem to be anything worse or we’d get the same treatment for the next couple of nights as well as it runs it’s course through the twins.  Tanked has other issues though… welcome to the family girls!

Vote incentive: MERRY LATE CHRISTMAS! If you follow us on Face Book though that image would have been a bit more timely :)

New tees up this week (and all of them kid friendly):

-‘Penguin’s First Snow’ is at Shirt Woot

-‘Just Keep Flying’ and ‘Friendly Flight’ are in Teefury’s latest collection of tees aimed at kids (or really big kids).  Check out that Wookie Cookie tee, that’s freaking adorable!  Lots of Star Wars in there.

Happy New Year guys!  Looking forward to 2015 (it ends with all day kindergarten for the twins, my freedom is approaching!!  Perhaps a bit early to count down the days.)  New Years at the zoo will bring yet more strife; hopefully Pro has a good stash built up.  Don’t forget to follow the comic on Facebook; there’s tee designs, previews, and the title card for the next arc always goes up early.

We almost had a green Christmas, and New Year’s, but thankfully a winter snow/ice/freezing rain storm blew in and fixed that :P  Now I just have to figure out which of my awesome neighbours snow-blowed my driveway for me.  They’re sneaky whoever they are…

Vote incentive: having fun with old (and new again) anime (because this always bugged me about Sailor Moon’s character design).  Also available on a shirt from Neato.

Pretty much since this comic started I’ve been meaning to get at least one themed arc up on time, i.e. a Christmas or Halloween themed story at the appropriate time of year.  Well best laid plans around here either don’t happen, or you’ll get a Christmas arc in July at this rate.  However, I’ve managed a somewhat seasonally on theme short winter arc, so that’s something.  Plus it’s fun drawing animals in toques :)

Seasonally themed vote incentive to boot!

The twins started nursery school!  Only on Thursdays and only for two hours (by the time I get them dropped off, undressed, and into their indoor shoes I’ve already eaten up about 30 min of that precious time) and it’s going well so far.  I had duty day with them the first day so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I left them the second day… I barely got a good bye and had to chase them down for a hug.  I lost Evan to the lego table immediately, and Owen got mesmerized by the “cock” board.  I’m thinking next Sept’s first day of school should be a breeze then.

This week brings an odd confluence of Minion inspired designs available at the same time (and some Valentine’s inspired forbidden love :) )

‘Terminion’ up today only on RIPT apparel:

‘Forbidden Love’ is available this week from Shirt Woot’s True Love side sale:

And more Minion weirdness from Shirt Woot (Sam loves the shirt but has no idea of the reference of course… I’m really looking forward to eventually watching some classics with him: Indy, Star Wars, Labyrinth, the ONLY Ninja Turtles movies…)

Vote Incentive: alternate rough for the Predator Loves Alien shirt (running through a soft focus field of flowers of course)

A short but sweet (?) Gimp arc.  I had meant to carry the snow theme through into the next one and then I realized 6 pages in that I’d totally forgotten.  I wanted to draw bears in snow suits :(  Vote incentives then!  Vanity would probably look pretty cute in a one piece.

Shirt news:

‘First Day’ is available till the 27th from ShirtWoot.  Might be the mom in me but it really felt kind of maternal the way Rosetta dropped off the Philae lander (and it’s probably the irrational in me that chose to ascribe human emotions to space craft/robots/whatever the proper term is).

‘Smash Brawl’ is available Jan 27th from RIPT apparel, because I love cute and violence!

And Design By Humans is having a free shipping sale on now!  Use the coupon code DOOOMCAT01FSS0201, it’s good until Feb 1st.

Vote incentive: Dear, sweet Tanked… what a treasure.

Otherwise known as the ‘Sara gets in over her head’ arc (rather literally, more than once).  There will be smugness on the horizon, and probably a bloody nose or two, and adorable triplets mercilessly ripped apart!  There was a mom in the high risk pregnancy ward having triplets around the same time I was having the twins.  Her’s were also totally natural (and she already had a 20 month old like I did).  And I thought my finding out I was having 2 ultrasound appt was bad enough…

And now for more childhood vomit stories because that’s how all my fun stories start now!  We’ve actually been rather lucky so far this winter to not have any major illnesses run rampant through the house.  Owen ruined that for us last week with a day of sneezing, runny nose issues, and a 3 am vomit all over himself and the bed (that they share, double mattress on the floor so I don’t have to worry about anyone rolling off the bed, or buy two toddler beds and then have to buy two more regular beds in a few years).  Generally the sharing the bed thing works just fine, until Owen throws up and Evan rolls in it.  Sooo, yeah.  I LOVE doing laundry at 3:30 in the morning.

So Woot ran a derby with the theme “Weird”… and this came out.  This was described by one of the other artists as Unstealthy taking some mushrooms and probably passed out while the competent ninjas did their thing.  I think that’s rather an insightful comment :)

Vote incentive: a (completely vomit free) depiction of breakfast love.

At least Evil is unfailingly honest… most of the time.

And just to end any speculation, that is definitely not baby Nerd and his mom on the previous page.  You may now speculate on who it actually is of course :)

Soooo tired of winter.  We got more snow most of the weekend.  I alternated scowling at my Facebook friend’s constantly updating family pics in Punta Cana, and shovelling.  My brother also noticed the fort we built for the boys made of big blocks of snow formed with the recycling bin, so he preceded to build a wall halfway across my driveway while I was at work, efficiently blocking garage access.  He said he’d come clear it away the next day, and didn’t.  Then they froze to the ground and got hard after the temperature dropped again.  Fun.

At least the Punta Cana crew will have a lovely arrival back in Canada!  I wonder if any of their neighbours plowed their drive way for them??

It’s new shirt sale Monday again :)  ‘Jurassic Parked’ and ‘Night Flight’ are available for one week in Shirt Woot’s ‘Cute Pop Cult’ side sale.  That’s a lot of blue…

Vote incentive: Feeling a little nostalgic about the ‘Harry Potter’ novels (they’re really old now!  But so am I!!)

So freaking cold this weekend!  Today is a holiday and the kids and us have been stuck inside for three days… which means I keep baking (something to do with the kids and a warm oven).  Hopefully this cold snap ends quickly before I gain 5 pounds :(

Or go crazy: the boys are constantly squabbling and the dry air in here means half the time the twins hit each other, their nose starts bleeding.  And every sneeze is a kleenix emergency… so done with winter!

Poster prints available now from INPRNT:  there’s the Bear Nuts Fine Art series (which I hope to finish some day) and some of my favourite tee designs as well.

And… a ‘Supernatural’ themed apron design on Woot… because PIE!

Vote Incentive: younger version of last week’s Harry Potter gang (also available as a shirt from Neato).

Someone wondered last page about why Sara doesn’t like polar bears (I do read all the comments even if I usually forget/don’t have time/on occasion am waaay too lazy to respond so just know they are very much still appreciated!) and I have a few theories but feel free to come up with your own :)  Perhaps polar bears are just universally dicks and as Sara’s been to a few zoos, she’s likely been exposed to a few.  Perhaps more likely, her own acerbic personality always finds the worst in everyone and drives people away.  If everyone’s a jerk… perhaps the issue is you :)  I know a few people like that.

Still horribly cold here, probably made worse by the fact that the radio people keep moaning how normal highs for this time of year should be in the minus 3-5 degrees range.  Oh well, I make myself feel better by watching videos of people snowed in their houses.  Someday I want to visit the east coast of Canada, if they can find it in the giant snow bank just off Quebec.

Must ignore the smug BC people boasting their plus 10 degrees and going swimming :P

VOTE incentive: a silly idea and some experimentation in a different style…

New shirt Monday on Woot again: First off, a fun mini-series of DC vs Marvel kid’s clubhouses.  The DC shirt was winning through the morning of the debut day last week, but the Marvel version ended up in the lead (not surprised).  You can find the Marvel version HERE on the top twenty chart, and the DC version HERE in the Dooomcat back catalogue.

Plus Woot ran a tuxedo shirt derby and this came out: (available for one week in the side sale) Pika tux is HERE and the penguin tux is HERE.

Getting cozy on the couch!  Sort of :)  And today is supposed to get up to minus 3 degrees!  It’s finally warming up!  No take backs nature!!

Vote Incentive: crow sketches for a recent commission; I love drawing birds.  The mechanics of wings are fascinating (plus videos of crows using tools and mimicking humans are hilarious).

Neatoshop is having a March Madness sale: 20% off all tees from now until March 8th.  Everything in the Dooomcat shop is on sale!  Including ‘Smash Victor’ (I’d always bet on the one that can electrocute everyone else…)

Sara needs a new schtick and fast; the polars seem to be immune to her “charms”.  Hopefully this doesn’t need to be said but I’ll do it anyway: no, I’m not condoning/promoting/inciting violence against woman (she’s not a woman for one), and Sara’s a jerk and totally had this coming.

Vote incentive:  the finished version of last week’s crow commission

Shirt Woot’s running an Unstealthiest Ninja side sale and Tuesday is the last day!  All the ninja shirts from the last couple of years (except last Xmas for whatever reason?) are available now and on sale for only $8 each!

You can also now get the aptly timed St. Patrick’s Day ninja shirt, because ninjas totally celebrate that holiday….
